1. Lesson Requirements
To participate in motorcycle lessons, you must:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Hold a valid M1 motorcycle license
- Provide valid government-issued photo ID
- Sign our lesson agreement and waiver
- Wear appropriate safety gear (provided if needed)
2. Scheduling and Availability
We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your needs:
- Available 24/7 for urgent M2 prep sessions
- Advance booking recommended for best availability
- Same-day bookings subject to availability
- Package lessons must be completed within 6 months
3. Payment and Pricing
Payment is required at the time of booking or before the lesson begins.
- We accept e-Transfer, debit cards, credit cards, and cash
- All prices include 13% HST
- Package discounts apply when booking multiple lessons
- No refunds for completed lessons
4. Cancellation and Rescheduling
We understand that schedules can change. Our cancellation policy is:
- 24-hour notice required for free cancellation
- Cancellations less than 24 hours may incur 50% fee
- Emergency situations handled case-by-case
- Weather-related cancellations are free
- Rescheduling is free with 24-hour notice
5. Safety and Equipment
Safety is our top priority. All participants must:
- Wear approved motorcycle helmet (provided if needed)
- Wear protective gloves (provided if needed)
- Wear appropriate clothing (long pants, sleeves, closed-toe shoes)
- Follow all safety instructions from the instructor
- Not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol
6. Lesson Content and Progression
Our lessons are designed to build skills progressively:
- Basic motorcycle operation and controls
- Starting, stopping, and shifting techniques
- Traffic awareness and defensive riding
- M2 test preparation and route practice
- Confidence building and skill refinement
Lesson duration and content may be adjusted based on your skill level and progress.
7. Instructor Responsibilities
Our instructors are committed to:
- Providing patient, professional instruction
- Ensuring your safety at all times
- Adapting teaching methods to your learning style
- Maintaining well-maintained training motorcycles
- Following all safety protocols and regulations
8. Student Responsibilities
As a student, you are responsible for:
- Arriving on time for scheduled lessons
- Bringing required documentation and gear
- Following all safety instructions
- Communicating any concerns or questions
- Practicing between lessons (when safe to do so)
9. Weather Policy
Weather conditions can affect lesson safety:
- Lessons may be cancelled for unsafe weather (heavy rain, snow, ice)
- Light rain may not cancel the lesson
- Weather decisions are made by the instructor for safety
- Weather-related cancellations are rescheduled at no charge
- Students will be notified of cancellations as early as possible
10. Liability and Insurance
Please note:
- Students participate in lessons at their own risk
- Joy Riders carries liability insurance for instruction
- Students are responsible for their own personal injury insurance
- All participants must sign a liability waiver
- Joy Riders is not responsible for personal property damage
